Greater Orlando Aviation Authority - West Ramp Rehabilitation
HSA Golden provided fast-track assistance to investigate and remediate soil contamination during replacement of pavement and infrastructure at the West Ramp of Orlando International Airport. Prior estimates of the extents of contamination were low, and the construction schedule was threatened as a result. Negotiations with Orange County’s environmental personnel minimized the volume of excavated soil while maintaining high environmental standards. Over 60,000 cubic yard of contaminated soil were ultimately removed and thermally treated, and HSA Golden subsequently installed soil vapor extraction, air sparging, and groundwater pump-and-treat systems to remediate areas that could not be excavated.
